Governor declares State of Emergency for Louisiana

Gov. John Bel Edwards has declared a state of emergency for the entire state of Louisiana in anticipation of a tropical storm or hurricane developing in the Gulf of Mexico this week, with landfall likely somewhere on the Louisiana coast over the weekend. “No one should take this storm lightly,” he said Wednesday, because heavy rain can cause serious problems even away from the landfall area.
